The Lady Matador’s Hotel
by Cristina Garcia The author paints arrestingly beautiful images in this novel. After reading it you feel like you know what a certain Central American country is really like–adoptions and civil war are the clues that made me think of Guatemala. The author’s characters are interesting and believable–even when they are involved in ‘magic realism’.
